Health Insurance....YUCK!!

So we found out this week that Cameron's work has decided to switch health insurance plans. They apparently have been keeping track over the last year of how people are using their health insurance. So they have come up with a new plan that will save 84% of the employee's money. Then new plan is that they will not cover anything until you have met your deductible. The new deductible is ..... 10,000 that's right 10,000 dollars!!! No coverage until you have spent $10,000. It saves people $ because they do pay some of it into an account for your use and it only will cost us $30.00 a month. So as long as you don't go to the doctor it saves you money. So it's a real good thing we aren't having a baby this year or something! oh wait we are.... can't wait to find out how much a baby costs with no real health insurance. I just love being part of the 16% of the company that it really (hmmm how to put it nicely) screws over.

  1. We have crappy insurance too, but yours is worse, sorry. We only have to get to $5000, AND if you want the little sweeties will pull a predetermined amount OUT of your pay check to send to you later after you go to the doc, but be careful you don't predetermine to much, whatever you don't end up using, they keep, niiiice!

  2. We had something like that when Justin first became his own boss. We had a tax free health savings account that we paid money into every month and then paid all of our medical bills out of. Our insurance premiums were cheap, but we had a HUGE deductible to meet before they covered anything. Like you said, it saved us money as long as we weren't going to the doctor. The only problem was, I became even more hesitant to take my kids to the doctor when they were sick (I was already overly-hesitant to take them in the first place), and of course that was the one year when our kids actually got sick and had to go to the doctor a ton!! Luckily we switched over to the same plan as his employees before we got pregnant. Now we pay higher insurance premiums but it'll only cost us like twenty bucks to have a baby!!! Bottom line...Cameron should become a hygienist and come work for Justin...
